Energy Theft

Energy theft is a serious crime that results in high costs passed down to our members. Some members tamper with their service connections or meters to avoid paying for energy they use.

Energy theft does more than just increase cost of electicity: tampering with electric meters and wiring can result in serious fires, injury and even death. It poses serious danger to the thief, to people living nearby and to DS&O employees. If you suspect someone of fraud or tampering with his or her service, please contact us at 1-800-376-3533 immediately.

Some individuals have endangered their lives and the lives of others by stealing conductors and copper wire from facilities and selling these materials to scrap yards. If you observe any suspicious activity in this regard, contact local law enforcement immediately. Our employees locate some illegal activity, but we need your help.
